Allow users to export member directory
Evin Callahan
It would be great if non-administrative users with access to the "Resident Directory" page had the ability to export that directory to various formats: Excel, CSV, PDF, if needed.
This is a request to allow users OTHER than the admin to do this if it was enabled.

An exported file that mirrors predefined restrictions (e.g. no email visible/ printed) would be a great benefit. We currently maintain a separate spreadsheet and manage the creation of such a pdf file, which we also use for other purposes (e.g. mail merge docs with member information). It would be preferable to manage one member list, and allow members to produce their own report.

A really bad idea

Michael Kammer: This could become a privacy issue. This is also why email blasts should never show everyone's email address.
Michael Kammer
Georgia Cort: if you can export data files with names and addresses, and considering personal preferences for phone number and email (which could be easily screened by the application), it really is not a privacy issue since member preferences are retained.

We quite producing a directory for our HOA in 2013. There was some initial grumbling, but now, we hardly ever hear anybody asking for the directory. In our case, if we were to produce a directory, we would use the Property Management's database, as it is maintained better.

In addition to the online directory on our site, we maintain a parallel directory in PDF format (updated every 2 years) that can be downloaded and printed by residents, but it only contains phone numbers, not email addresses. We obtain residents' explicit permission to be in the print version due to privacy issues.
I suggest consulting an attorney who specializes in HOA issues to weigh in on the privacy concerns if this request were to move forward.

Definitely a privacy issue. Our residents provide their personal information to us (HOA) and we have some responsibility to make sure the entire list is not easily made available as solicitation or distribution lists to other parties. Also since the site is easily accessible by residents from their phones, it is a simple matter for them to make their calls or whatever directly from the site.

The printout would need to invoke all of the user preferences for hiding information so that it isn’t printed.

I see an issue with this. Some of our members do not want their information shared with other community members. If enabled, I as an administrator, would want the ability to disable the feature for our community.

Kim Wilcox: I agree, this is a privacy issue. Members have the ability to hide email (this is included in the export) and phone number. If enabled, I would also want the ability to disable.
Robert Elser
I agree. With our conversion to online datakeeping, we have lost the possibility of easily printing a members directory for ease of use by our members.

If you're looking to print (not export) the resident directory, I'd recommend adding a vote to the following post: https://feedback.hoa-express.com/feature-requests/p/printer-friendly-resident-directory.

Wes Cossick: Also nice, thanks!

Wes Cossick: I'm aware of the print option but would like to edit the output. Plus I would like to combine the data data that the 2 different reports/exports provides.
Jody Leeds
Yes I so agree on this. We constantly have complaints from our residents that they need a hard copy.
