Set expiration date for classified ads
Glen VanDerHart
Allow the user to set an expiration date on their own listing, and for the admins to set an automatic expiration for all classified ads posted to a page.
Original post:
The ability to delete classified ads that are older than a set number of days.
We need to be able to keep it clean, so when ads get old, it would be good for them to automatically be deleted, rather than have the Admin person do it manually.
Keeping it fresh, keeps people interested.

I like it! Can we get that done? Otherwise, I have to constantly be sure to peruse the classifieds page and delete any out-dated post.

Expiry Dates on Classifieds

Usually with a physical bulletin board there are some sort of rules on posting to avoid clutter. It might be that any posting must be dated, with the understanding that they will be removed after two weeks, or maybe an expiry date is required. I suggest something similar for the Classifieds page. The Admin could set a maximum posting duration, and when people posted a classified they would be required to set a date that was the maximum or less. At the end of that time the listing would be automatically deleted. The Admin perhaps would be able to set an individual posting expiry date override on anyone's posting on request.

We are considering something similar and I support the suggestion.

I aggree with this suggestion. Helps eliminate postings staying for ever or when an admin go in and cleans up.

We'd consider both the ability for a user to set an expiration date on their own listing, and for the admins to set an automatic expiration for all classified ads posted to a page. Therefore, I've updated the description to include what all we'd consider implementing.
