Retain member names when deleted
Meredith Owens
Currently, when members are removed from a website, their name is removed from being attached to things they’ve done/posted.
We're open to considering retaining their name for important things, like online payments they've made, rather than everything they could have added (forum posts, classified ads, etc.).
If this were to be implemented, privacy concerns would need to be taken into consideration to comply with GDPR and CCPA regulations.

Now that the number of members affects the pricing tier, keeping old accounts around is not a long-term option. We don't want to bump up into the next pricing tier just because there's been enough turnover in houses.

I haven't run into this yet, but I was wondering the same thing. It would be nice to have an account type like "Former Owner" to which I could reassign existing email address(es) to in order to allow the new owner to have an account and also allow the former owner to have access to any page(s) deemed appropriate. Things like community forums and such would make sense in some cases.

Brian Burress: You can currently set this up! To do so, you would want to create a custom account type, then update the account type for the relevant members. Instructions for how to complete both of these actions is provided below:

Meredith Owens: Thank you. I had seen that I could create an account type but hadn't realized I could change an established account. Thinking through the process of doing this - For example, Joe Smith has sold the house at 123 Main Street and Jane Doe has bought it. I can edit John Smith to the new account type and delete the associate address at that same time/do whatever I want to do to create a new entry for Jane Doe at 123 Main street. Does that sound right?
Meredith Owens
Brian Burress: Yes, that's correct. After creating the new account type, you can update the former owner's (e.g., Joe Smith's) account type and address information. Then, create a new account for the new owner (e.g., Jane Doe) by either importing them into the website or filling out the registration form.

Makes sense to me. Sometimes we forget how things come about and if you have a name attached it can provide some context.
