Allow news articles to be saved as drafts
John Hornbuckle
Sometimes when writing an article, I may be interrupted and have to stop work. It would be great if I could save a draft to return to later, then publish it after completion.

Edit news articles before publishing

Sometimes we need to view a news article that we are publishing several times before we think it is ready to go. It would be useful if we could jump in and out of edit mode without actually publishing the news article until we think it's ready.

Yes, need more function in for News articles. Also, would like to drag to change sequence.

Gina Arasin: We have a separate post open where we're considering allowing administrators and page editors to reorder news articles! You can view that here: https://feedback.hoa-express.com/feature-requests/p/reorder-news-articles.

This would make doing the articles much easier along with when you exit out that the draft stays there, so when you come back you don't have to start all over again.
Bonnie Clements
Agree; it would be good to have something like the preview feature that exists with posting events.

I'll 2nd that! It's so annoying to have to make a change and find that you have to start over. :(

Sure, why not permit drafts? Just a thought though: If we allow publishing News directly from a pdf, or some other file format, it would circumvent the issue.
Meredith Owens
Duncan Bena: If what you mean by this suggestion is the ability to attach files to a news article, we encourage you to submit this as a new feature request, since it doesn't currently exist.
Duncan Bena
Meredith Owens: Done.

Not only is "save as draft" important, the author may not be the final "publisher." For example, I will probably write much of our news content - but would like to defer to our Board president for either "approval" or perhaps the option to publish under his signature (I'm the VP).
So - I would say "SAVE AS DRAFT" is actually similar to unpublished pages. An article can be saved by one person and then published by another.
Would also suggest that the "publisher" be indicated. Obviously publishing rights can be controlled by permission - but a "byline" field for articles based on who is actually the one publishing would make it clear that it isn't just the anonymous "they".

Barry Elk: Since having the ability to indicate the publisher of a news article is separate from this feature request, I've created a new post for this and added your vote there.
