Provide admins with the ability to move around where items are located on the homepage. This would apply to the rotating photos, news, and upcoming events.
Agree 100% as it stands now our homepage is getting kinda stale.
It would be nice to be able to control where the weather information is displayed on the page.
We would love some flexibility. We have a lot of page navigation menus, which then requires someone to scroll down well beyond the bottom of the page to see news and calendar items. Most don't realize they are down there. It would be nice to be able to put a widget higher up on the page, maybe to the opposite side of the page listings.
Multiple widgets could be used. For example, "Last Five News Items", "Next Five Calendar Items" or "Important announcement(s)". Similar to how blogs show latest entries, or most commented on, etc. The view of current news and calendar items at the bottom of the page just feel outdated.
I echo the issue that the rotating photos on the homepage, a very eye-catching feature, get lost as the list of pages and folders grows. I like the option of rotating photos everywhere that photos can be inserted. If the administrators can't have complete control then perhaps there can be several options in the basic design options moving the rotating photos in different layouts. Specifically I'd like to see it at the top of the column not at the bottom.
I like the idea of being able to be more creative with the home page as well as each section.
agreed. We have emergency contact info on the home page, but it crowds out our news and calendar items. Ideally, we would like these items to go above it so they are featured more prominently. We find that be being "below the fold" most owners miss them entirely...
I would agree that the rotating pictures get lost at the bottom of the page as well as being small. We like to feature pictures of our Annual Garage Sale. I usually create a PDF with the photos and post it as a page on the right sidebar. The articles and calendar events would be better served at the top. Optionally, make these objects moveable at the discretion of the website owner.
I would like to be able to add shortcut buttons to our home page and have a selection of standard buttons to chose from. So far we have created a few but not happy with the results. L
Putting on my developer hat for a moment, I’ll point out that if you go through the trouble of giving some control over the homepage layout, it probably makes sense to have a serious discussion about writing this code generic enough that you can use it on all the other pages too.
I'd like to put my own background image behind the banner photo
@Phil Ensign: We strive to keep our websites modern and professional in appearance. Therefore, we do not have plans to allow different images to be added as the website background, as this could lower the quality of the appearance of your website.
However, if you'd like to have additional template options, there is a post created for this that you're welcome to add a vote to and comment on! I've linked this for you here: https://feedback.hoa-express.com/feature-requests/p/expanded-template-options.
