I don't feel that a rating on classifieds would be as important as ratings on a services page - even better on a services page if it could be 1-5 stars or short (limit characters) reviews

Thumbs down. There are so many classified options out in the market place, that many are being ignored or forgotten since they have such a limited potential market. Doug

This, alone, does not seem adequate for quality reviews. However, it would be ok if combined with an opportunity to explain the thinking behind it. For example, a thumbs down review combined with the comment that a plumber provides quality service but charges more than others would be good to know for someone looking for high quality work.

John Middleton: If you'd like to have a page dedicated to members providing reviews on service offerings, using the "Forum" page could be a better option. With this page, members can post a recommendation or service provider as a topic, and other members can comment on their experiences, as well.

Meredith Owens: You make a good point. However, I find the Forum page cumbersome for quickly finding what I am looking for. That is why we resorted to using columns on a General Text page to create a matrix showing name of business, contact info, referred by, and comments. The drawback to this is users need to understand how to edit content in columns on a General Text page.

Meredith Owens: I agree with John Middleton - the Forum page is way too "clunky" an option for service reviews. By and large, people would just create an entirely new topic rather than searching for the service provider and adding a comment to a prior topic.
