Customize order of What's Happening email sections

Gale Rydel
Folks in the community say that when they open the What's Happening update email, it is the same every week, they see the recurring games every week and they don’t bother to scroll to the bottom to see the documents posted to the website. Now they say they just delete before even reading cuz it’s always the same. So I thought if we reversed the order, they might pay more attention.

It would be great if we can add a custom message to the next Whats Happening email when we have news we want everyone to get but don't want to send a special email just for that.

It would be helpful to be able to choose the events that will be displayed on the what’s happening email. Perhaps we need ‘event types.’

Gina Arasin: We have a separate post open where we're looking into adding the ability for administrators to select to exclude certain events from the What's Happening emails!
I've added your vote to that post, so you'll be notified whenever we update its status. You can view that here: https://feedback.hoa-express.com/feature-requests/p/option-to-exclude-certain-events-from-whats-happening-emails.

Most of our members that attend activities already know what day & times they happen. They want to know what's happening during the rest of the week, hence, "What's Happening" & do not like scrolling to the bottom to get to the "good stuff". It just makes more sense the Current News is first & then the events/activities on the calendar follow. Thanks for allowing us all to voice our thoughts.

Signing on to this. Just got the email and the very important announcement from the board is buried under a busy week of forum posts.

I absolutely agree. this is a real flaw. The calendar often has the same repeating events on it so it is hard to find the weekly update or new documents posted which should be the first thing you see.

For the first time in years, our What's Happening update today was useful! Why? Because with our clubhouse still closed, we made the decision to empty the events calendar for the month of June. And wow...now (just as Gale Rydel mentioned above)
I
noticed for the first time that the message includes forum posts, new articles (I did know that—we just hadn't been using those until I set it up), active listings, and documents (though I'd like to turn that section off). In my mind, this proves the case Gale makes. If we could push calendar entries down the page a bit, our community members would likely get more out of the email blast.Denny Dido
We eliminated the "problem" by using two calendars. The HOA E calendar is our "Event Calendar" and we have a Google calendar linked to contain all of the "regular daily/weekly" activities to keep them out of the SPECIAL EVENTS calendar used in the What's Happening and the 3 days at the bottom of the home page...
