Automatically redirect links to transferred documents
Wes Cossick
Users often link to documents on a particular page from other pages/websites. Because a document's URL is tied to the page it lives on, when a document is transferred to a different page, its URL changes. Therefore, any links to the old URL stop working.
It wouldn't be possible to change every link to a document once it's been transferred (since some of those links can live on third party websites), but we could develop a feature that remembered where transferred documents used to live and direct visitors who try to visit that URL to the new URL.

I think that it should be no brainer if I transfer a document to a different page within the site the internal link should be maintained

This isn't really a feature...surely...

Hi, I just used the facility to transfer a document from one page to another, and when I did so, a link to the page in a third page could no longer find the document..
I've just noticed I wrote almost exactly the same thing ages ago (forgot about it). But I can't believe this is considered to be ok. Is it that the nature of the underlying database makes it difficult to adjust the links? A "move" feature is not really a move if it breaks any links.
