Approve new members on an account
Meredith Owens
Ability for admins to approve members that are added to an account that has already been approved. This would be useful when members are added by other members on that account at a later date.

Review new members that are added to existing accounts

It looks like any full member can add anyone else as a joint member even if they are not an owner of the property. Joint membership should only be added if they are legal owners and added by the administrators only. We are seeing misuse of this so that members can add anyone and add more votes to surveys. We want all legal owners and only legal owners to get the survey.

Yes, please, we do not want people who do not live in our subdivision added even if they are relatives. We need to be able to remove and approve those that are added after we approve the homeowner. We just had a home owner sign up and then added six relatives to his group. These people do not live in our subdivision.

Absolutely feel this is necessary. Its important for maintaining sanctioned members.

We didn't realize that approved members can add any new member to their account. That's a gut punch for us, since we thought that our admin could review any such action. This means we have to be vigilant and watch for this kind of activity. It also means potentially even more work, as we will have to delete the account, add back in the approved members, and email the homeowner to explain what happened. Please give us the ability to approve ALL additions, not just new ones.

Besides approving members added by other members, it would be good if admins could change the type of member. For example to "other" in order to limit what areas of the website they can access.

I would like it if a primary account holder (owner for example) could invite joint owners, residents, etc to join their account without admin approval. We admins know who our members are, but not necessarily who every member of a household is. If the primary can invite, and even approve new members of their account, then it takes a lot of pressure off of us.

Joseph Fry: Full members on an account can already add additional members to their account (e.g. spouses, children, pets) without them needing to be approved first. For instructions on how to do this, you'll want to review the following article: https://help.hoa-express.com/members-and-accounts/account/adding-a-member-to-an-existing-account.

Meredith Owens: I thought so... was just confused by this request I guess. Why would we want to provide admins the ability to approve members that an account owner adds?

Joseph Fry: This feature could be useful to communities that need to keep members whose names are not technically on the deed for their home separate from members whose names are. This way, they can ensure a homeowner doesn't add a non-owner member to their account under the type of "Homeowner."
