Customize the text of emails sent to new members
H
Hoa Webmaster Woodbrook Estates
Provide administrators the ability to customize the text of the notification email sent to new members after being approved on the website.
ORIGINAL POST:
HOA Express has created a significant problem for our park that relies heavily on Discussion Topics for communication that is often time sensitive. Webmasters cannot edit contact prefs and many members are simply unable to edit prefs despite specific instruction. This default is a big problem for our park. All new members must be sent a seperate email advising them to edit their prefs.
If the system sent a welcome email that included how to change their contact prefs and explanation why they should, it would save a webmaster a lot of time. There could be other reasons for wanting to customize the welcome/ approval confirmation email.

We need this feature because we want to prompt our members to update their directory information (add their phone numbers) when they first log in. Also, we want to provide them with an email to write to if they have problems so that we can provide them with assistance. This is especially important for persons who may be disabled.

We need this feature because we want to communicate our own, specific information to our residents

has this feature request been implemented ?

Kevin Adler: We have not implemented this feature on our software yet. Since you've added your vote to this post, when our team does update the status of this, you'll receive a notification email!

Wouldn't it be simpler if the "Welcome email" linked to a New Members page where you explain site features? Every HOA is different, so the automated welcome message would have to be customizable anyway.
We use a "How to Register" page off the Nav bar that both explains registration and lists the site's features. Works great.

Adrienne Kinney: How do you add your registration page to the Nav bar? We have not been able to get more than 25% of our residents to change the forum topics choices to positive.
Meredith Owens
Lindy Peters: While you're not able to move the registration page to the page menu, you can create a "General Text" page that provides users with more information and includes a link to the registration page. This is what Adrienne was referencing above.
Adrienne Kinney
Lindy Peters: Meredith Owens explains how we do it. The "How to Register" Nav link goes to a general text page with instructions and list of site features to help entice them to register, which is optional. (We don't use forums.)

Agree this is a great feature request-- because our news posts aren't read by new members -- so this auto-welcome message would solve that problem hands down. Great idea!

couldn't have said this better myself!

Would be nice if the message was customizable. Would love to be able to point them to particular pages (FAQ, etc).

Darius Riley: agree 100% especially when new members are by default blocked from getting often time sensitive Discussion Topic emails, which was a change in default from when we started with HOAE 6 years ago. We are in the awkward situation where about half of our residents dont get topic emails, then complain when they are inconvenienced because they missed something. Instead of webmaster sending seperate emails post registration instructing how to change settings, our welcome letter generated by HOAE could include that instruction. L
