Spell Checker on Android

I am receiving bug reports from users that say the built in spell checker is conflicting with their Android phone. Is this a known issue or something we could troubleshoot?

We're seeing issues with users editing when posting to forums. From reviewing similar sounding issues (cannot edit, words repeated when cut&pasting) - and associated replies (indicating your newer front end may address). Can you update on this? We are not a large community but lack of android functionality is a problem.

Duplicate text when adding a post to a forum from an Android device
Kevin Lemire
Users are reporting that when posting to the M'sters Miata Forum on their Android phone or tablet, when typing in a response, letter are duplicated.
Per the user:
"New problem with the changeover, ill type a few words and if necessary to backspace for any reason I get dozens of duplicates of words or phrases that were already typed. Attempting to delete all (or back out) of the entry does NOT remove the mess and deleting tends to skip a few single words. After deletion, those words then start multiplying and cause a hell of a mess. I've taken to typing an entry in another software, copying & pasting after "copy/cut" on the forum."

This is happening to me too. I have a Galaxy S9 and normally use GBoard. Updating to Android 10 did not fix this, but using Samsung keyboard, although not completely eliminating the problem, enabled me slowly to write a sentence.

Thank you for providing us with this additional information and the screenshot of what they’re seeing.
This is a known but rare problem with Android that I’m afraid we’re not in control of fixing. However, our product team is working on developing the next generation of our front end interfaces, which will use an entirely new set of technologies. Some of these newer technologies may potentially bypass this issue entirely.
In the meantime, if a user experiences this behavior on their Android device, we recommend they use a laptop or computer to add the content to that page.

To help us look into this, would you please provide us with a detailed explanation of the exact issue you've noticed?

Meredith Owens: one user stated that she uses SwiftKey on her Galaxy S9 running the latest available Android software and when she typed any keys, this was the result (attached image). Duplicated words and red highlighting everywhere.
Additionally when she switched to the stock keyboard, she received the following issues:
"Slightly different behavior since the autocorrect works differently, but the text box would remove my first space after every word and I had to put in another or the red highlighting from before would happen again. Of course, regular double-spacing inserts a period, so it has to happen slower than that."
If this is not sufficient, I can try and have her get in touch directly for troubleshooting.

Personally, I think it might be an overreach for HOA express to enable a spell checker. Most people have spell checkers already on their devices that work just fine. This is asking for trouble. So if you are able to provide an option to turn it off, that might be ideal.
