Extraneous symbols added to blast emails

Special characters were added to a communication that I sent out to the community. I did not add them. Could there be a coding error? I investigated on the internet, and it claimed that any copying or pasting (which I did do) could cause this issue.

I left several messages with Nicole when this started to happen. I am in a MAC or iPad. I tried different browsers. I figured out to copy the text TO Word as unformatted text. Then copied that back to the email editor.
This is clearly a bug. Meredith, is there any update?
Meredith Owens
Cheri Kramer: Yes, our team has resolved this issue! Therefore, you shouldn't experience this again when copying and pasting text from a third-party source.

Whenever pasting formatted text from one platform to another, I always do it with ctrl-SHIFT-V which deposits the raw text with no formatting. And so the pasted text adopts the formatting currently in effect in the target document - which almost always is what you wanted in the first place.
If you then add subsequent formatting to the pasted text, you're doing it in the target platform with absolute control. There are formatting features in Word that do not exist in the HOA editor, and these are ripe for misinterpretation during the paste operation.

Happened to me too when cutting and pasting. When I retyped it into the communication the extra characters and symbols were not there
Meredith Owens
Christine Zender: Thank you for sharing! What program did you paste the text from (e.g., Microsoft Word, Apple Pages)?
Gina Arasin
That has happened to me when I paste in formatted text (from MS Word, I believe).
Meredith Owens
Gina Arasin: Thank you for letting us know! Has this occurred when pasting in text from a different software, as well?
Gina Arasin
Meredith Owens, I think it happened when I pasted bulleted text from ChatGPT.

Characters added to text in email blast
Lana Greenan
I have copied and pasted a word document into the email blast message area When I send a preview to myself there are lines where these characters show up
I have tried retyping directly into the message but they don't go away. I changed from the bold status and that didn't change anything.
What can I do to make this go away?
Thanks, Lana

Jacqueline Lupone: You mentioned that you copied and pasted that text into the editor when drafting your blast email. What program did you copy that from (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs)?
