Add the ability to restrict viewing the "Resident directory" to only residents that have their own information visible.

I'm afraid we don't plan to add this restriction to the "Resident directory" page type. We honor an individual's personal decisions regarding their privacy preferences and don't plan to automatically prevent them from accessing this information if they've chosen to hide their account from displaying on this page.
However, if you'd like to set up your resident directory so those individuals cannot access that page, we recommend using the "Exceptions" feature when setting page restrictions. This will allow you to block specific members from accessing this page. You can learn more about setting up exceptions in the following help article: https://help.hoa-express.com/en/articles/2353873-about-page-restrictions.

When creating a user, the option to hide from resident directory would be a nice option. Owners can then choose whether their personal information is displayed. In my community we have not created accounts for all owners to honor "privacy" concerns. What an owner does with their account after it has been created is their choice.

The homeowners you describe are dues paying members who have a right to their privacy. But as members they also are allowed access to the community amenities by the community’s bylaws. For those in our community who didn’t enter their own info, I put it in for them, created a new category of owner called not- self-entered, and emailed instructions to them about how to hide their info, if they wanted. This way they can have their privacy while the board can easily send out blasts to the entire community. Unless there is a circumstance that I don’t understand, I don’t see the need for this feature.

Not important and seems more intent to coerce certain people who may have a professional reason for not sharing their personal information.
Gina Arasin
Why? I think all residents should be able to see the directory.

Users already have the option in their profile (under the privacy tab) to hide their email address and phone number from being displayed in the resident directory.

William Nisley: Yes, this is true. The request is that if you hide all your contact information, then you would not be able to see everyone else's either.

Seems reasonable. If someone doesn't want to share their information then why should they expect to see other's information.
Beth Pittaway
Phil Wright: Yes, this is the exact reason my BOD would like the extra option.

Would love to have an example of the use case for this feature.
