Wish the editor for news articles offered the same features as Forum pages - i.e., ability to embed images (not just a link), color options for text, etc.

Adding on to what Meredith Owens said, it's worth noting that you
can
embed images into news articles by clicking the image button in the toolbar when writing a news article.G

Wes Cossick: Wes - that only embeds a link to an image, not the image itself.

Gary Simon: In the Markdown editor, it will display the syntax of the image, which looks like a link. However, if you click on the eyeball icon or publish the article, you'll see that you've embedded the image.

Meredith Owens: I did not realize that - that works great and solves my problem. Thanks for the heads up!

We've intentionally used the Markdown editor for the "News Articles" page type for concise, easy-to-read content. Generally, this page is used to share informational text with the community or short updates, and the formatting capabilities of the Markdown editor meet those needs.
Also, the additional page text feature is not included at the top of the "News Articles" page, like on the "Forum" page, for a couple of reasons.
First, many users tended to incorrectly use the page and, secondly, that text often got in the way of the news articles themselves. Therefore, we don't have plans to add this element to the "News Articles" page type again.
