Make members "inactive" instead of deleting them

When we have new homeowners come in, we don't want to delete the previous homeowner because they have payment history, etc that would be deleted too. I would like to see a way to just mark them as inactive/gone/moved/etc to maintain their histories in the program.

Thanks so much for looking into it!

After consideration, we've decided to not implement a separate "inactive" status. Instead, we're looking into another solution that would address the underlying concern of this request, which is to retain a member's name on things they’ve done/posted after being deleted.
We've created a post for that and have provided more information about what would need to be considered when looking at implementing this. You can view that new post here: https://feedback.hoa-express.com/feature-requests/p/retain-member-names-when-deleted.

Might also be good when people leave the association but you still need/want to maintain contact with them....rather than permanently SUSPENDING them, they would just be inactive.

If I have homeowners that haven't logged in - ever (at least a year), then I delete them. I want my stats to reflect active members. I figure if they change their mind, they can re-register.

Yes, I completely agree. Suspend means they still exist... They are still at the property... Inactive means they are gone, either no longer members, they moved, died, etc... There is a difference between suspend and inactive...
I would love to have an inactive option

We have a feature where you can temporarily suspend an account. You can read more about that feature here: https://help.hoa-express.com/en/articles/2771733-about-suspending-accounts.
After reviewing this feature, would you please let me know if that would meet your needs?

Meredith Owens: Hi Meredith! Thanks for reaching out so quick. I took at look at that option, but that isn't what I'm looking for.
As an example, Let's say Mr. Jones is living in 123 Main St and has paid his quarterly dues. Then mid-year he sells his house to Ms. Smith. Now I'll have 2 separate accounts in HOA Express (one for each owner).
I obviously don't want to merge them, and making one suspended wouldn't "restrict" the old user enough for my liking (unless I'm missing something).
I don't want to delete the old owner, however, because from what I understand when I delete an owner, it also deletes any/all historical payments, etc. Is that right?
I have a feeling the answer is going to be to export the payment histories and retain them offline, but I was hoping for a fully 'online' option.
Any thoughts?
Thanks again,
Scott

Scott Denbow: By suspending an account, the member(s) on there wouldn't have access to interacting on your website other than logging in to adjust their member/account settings, viewing past communications, or making an online payment.
They wouldn't be able to view restricted pages, post content to any interactive pages (e.g., forum), receive communications from the website, and wouldn't be listed in the directory, amongst other restrictions.
What other limitations were you looking to have?

Meredith Owens: Hey Meredith! For me, it's just about retaining the users online histories. I'd like them to NOT have the ability to sign in at all. I know I could change their password myself to limit that, but, that's doesn't help with seeing "duplicates" in my member list...like if a new member and and old member have the same address, the system wants to "merge" them. I don't want to merge, I would like them to not even show up. I guess making them inactive is what I'm talking about. I don't want them to show up anywhere, but would like to retain all history of anything they'd done while being a member (voting, surveys, payments, etc).
I hope that makes sense!

Scott Denbow: maybe on the dashboard have members, members pending and add Inactive(moved) members
